First up... The Christmas tree. It was brand new and free! Yep seriously free. Neil's mom went out after Christmas last year and found this pre-lit $300 tree for $30. Crazy right? Then she generously just gave it to us making it free. So be patient and you might be able to get yourself a really cheap tree. Stay tuned to see how we frugally decorate the tree with maybe $1.
There is 2 things here. First the silver tray I got at a
yard sale for $2 and the big beautiful candle vase I got at Kohls for
50% off and had one of their Kohl's cash so it was really cheap
Yard sale find for $0.50 then I added a mason jar from our wedding.
Believe sign was a Kohls clearance find and my
mother-in-law got us the little nativity scene which is hand carved and
is fair trade
Last but not least... The village. My grandma separated all of her village last year and gave it to all her grandchildren. So sweet. I got 3 cute little houses that I love
There ya have it... a few cheap decorations that look beautiful. Like I said earlier stay tuned for super frugal Christmas tree decorating coming at the end of the week.
This was liked to the Homestead Barn Hop, Naturals Mothers Network, Frugally Sustainable
Looks great! As I was doing a post last year on my Christmas decor I realized it all came from either the thrift store or the clearance section! Ha. Buying secondhand ensures you have a very unique collection of pieces, plus it's financially and environmentally responsible. I scored a 1950s choir girl from the Salvation Army last year for like $2!! Woohoo!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how beautiful it all looks and for so cheap too! Can't wait to see the decorated tree. :-)
ReplyDeleteMissy- I couldn't agree more. There's just something about getting a super good deal on nice stuff that gets me excited. Its nice not to have your house look just like Hobby Lobby but something more unique or different.
ReplyDeleteJacinda- Thank you! Stay tuned on Friday that's when the post should be up. Were decorating it Thanksgiving with international students
For me Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving is way too early!
ReplyDeleteI love decorating for a bargain! we got our christmas tree the same way. My MIL bought it at an after christmas sale for a steal and then gave it to us :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I just can't justify buying things at whole price! That's the best way to get a tree! Thanks for sharing!

Nice post! What's important is having decorations that remind you to feel joyful and inspired in this season.
ReplyDeleteWe made our own Christmas tree out of "trash", plus a few years ago we found a pre-lit tree on the curb when our neighbors were moving back to China, so now we have 2 small trees!
I totally agree! I rather have cool vintage stuff or things that my grandma gave me. They have much more of a story behind them! That is really cool that you made it out of trash! So thrifty
DeleteAmy thank you for linking this wonderfully seasonal post to Seasonal Celebration! I do hope you'll pay us a visit this Wednesday for our holiday special linky! Rebecca x
