Homemade Gift Ideas: Necklace

Last week I had talked about our vacation to Virginia to visit Neil's brothers family. On that trip Neil's brother bought his daughter Rachel a necklace that she then lost at the Maymont property we were visiting. So since Rachel's birthday is coming up soon Neil thought it would be a good idea to make her a new one. Even though its doesn't look the same we thought she would like the replacement.

Homemade jewelry is a great and thoughtful gift that can be inexpensive to make. My aunt usually makes me earrings or a necklace every year for Christmas, I love it, and it makes me feel so special. Also, for wedding gifts to my bridal party I made them all bracelets and earrings to wear during the wedding and also for the future. It was much cheaper then buying them from the store, which was great since we were trying to have a frugal wedding. I still see my friends sometimes wearing the jewelry and that touches my heart every time.

You don't need to be some kind of crafty person to make it. All you need is some beads (I get mine from hobby lobby when they're 50% off), thread, and clasps. Then just go to work. People will love the hard work and love you put into it.

I would love to hear from you. What are some of your great frugal gift ideas?
