Frugal Decorating Part 2: Art

I am far from an artist. My sister-in-law taught me a few things (she is a much much better artist than I am) otherwise I have no formal training what so ever. Making art is not that hard and I love encouraging my friends to paint stuff. You don't even need an imagination (I google paintings or pictures I like and try to recreate them a lot of times). The honest reason I started painting in college was because I wanted cheap home decor. A lot of my old roommates still have some of my old paintings kind of as a parting gift.

Art doesn't have to be a painting either. You can take an old shoebox lid and cover it with fabric or scrap book paper like this! Isn't this adorable?
