All you need is...
3 bars of soap, grated
6 cups of water
Put ingredients in a pot over medium heat. Cook until dissolved and then place in jars to cool. It takes about 24 hours to get the right consistency. That's it!
You can see how to create this awesome looking mason jar soap dispenser here.

Have just run out of handsoap and so can't wait to make my own. Am house bound for a couple of days so no excuses! Might add some essential lavender oil?
ReplyDeleteWorks out perfect! I think that would be a great idea and would smell really nice!
DeleteI made this, but it solidified back to a thickness that cant be drawn up a pump. Is there anything that i can do to fix this problem?
ReplyDeleteI love doing homemade soaps for just about everything, is is the only problem I've had.
Hmm you could add some extra water. I would think that would do it! maybe add a few tbs at a time until you get the consistency you like! Hope that helps
DeleteI made about 1 gallon of Dove hand soap/body wash by taking about 2 1/2 cups of Dove soap bar slivers and dissolving them in 6 cups of boiling water. I added 1 Tbsp. of glycerin and 4 vitamin E capsules. Pour into jars or quart or gallon milk jugs. The soap will be very concentrated. When I am going to fill up soap containers or body wash containers, I simply pour out some of the concentrated soap, heat over low heat, and then add water to the consistency I want. You cannot beat the price of this! If starting from new soap bars, I would use 2 soap bars. You don't have to grate a lot of soap, especially soap like Dove. Simply leave it in the pot of boiling water, and it will dissolve in a few hours. Works for me!
DeleteThats another great way to do it! Thanks for sharing!
