I know its starting to get cold and the thought of eating something cold might be a chilling thought... But anyone that knows me, even for a minute, know my absolute favorite food is ice cream. No matter what the weather is like I love it. Making ice cream is so easy and so much betting then buying it from the store. All you need is an ice cream maker and a handful of ingredients. I found the recipe here.
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups half and half (or 2% or whole milk)*
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 Tbs vanilla extract (next time I use this recipe I'm going to add another 1/2 Tbs)
If you want to make different kinds of ice cream like cookies and cream, peanut buttercup, chocolate chip etc. Add those mix in during the last 5 minutes of the ice cream making process. After most of the cream mixture has doubled or tripled in size.
Enjoy! Have a great day!
*Side note: warning the less fattening the milk you use the bigger the ice crystals in your ice cream will be. The bigger the crystals the less smooth your ice cream. I used 2% and it still taste great just not creamy as it would be if I used half and half.

My fresh whole goat's milk is perfect for ice cream.
ReplyDeleteO that sounds sooo good Millie! I wish we could have goats! Maybe one day in the future...
ReplyDeleteMmmm! I'm pretty sure I'm the world's biggest ice cream fan (not good), so I think I'll be giving this a try!
